ROBINSON CRUSOE ZINK, son of was born in Hillsboro, Ohio on March 9, 1837. He and two brothers came to Greene County, Illinois in about 1855. He married AMANDA LOUISE DICKERMAN on November 26, 1860 in Green County, Illinois; Daughter of They lived north of Greenfield, Illinois where he operated several hundred acres of farm land and built a creamery near Greenfield. He was one of the first farmers in that region to have several large silos. R.C. was also the County Treasurer and he was the Superintendant of Sunday Schools at the Pleasant Point Baptist Church in Greenfield. It is said that not one of his children ever touched alcohol or tobacco. He and Amanda are buried in the Million Cemetery north of Greenfield Illinois. R. C. Zink died without a will. William A. Zink, his son petitioned the court on 5 Nov 1894 for letters of administration. R.C.'s estate was estimated to be worth about $5,000 consisting chiefly of about 180 acres of land in Greene County, Illinois, 160 acres in Kansas, a creamery in Greenfield, and one or two lots in Lawrence, Kansas... Horses, Cattle, Hogs, farm implement, feed for stock, household goods. The deceased left surviving him, Amanda L. Zink, William A. Zink, R.D. Zink, Hannah Carson, John B. Zink, Annie A. Zink and Eli A. Zink. Amanda L. Zink was appointed guardian for Eli A. Zink, a minor heir. The petitions were signed by all of the heirs.
Amanda L. Zink also died without a will. William Zink petitioned the Court on 23 March 1897 for letters of administration for his sister, Annie E. Ragland. Amanda's estate was estimated to be worth $1000 and consisted chiefly of 60 acres of land in Greene County, household and kitchen furniture, 1/3 interest in all the property on the farm consiting of horses, cattle, hogs and farm implements, feed, and 1/4 interest in the creamery business located in Greenfield. |
